Stunning flowers (my favourites) from Tash, Todd, Chris and Jeremy, what a lovely surprise to come home to after golf. How lucky am I.

Last day at UDM.....

Today we celebrated my farewell at work , after 18 years at the University Department of Medicine. I received bright and cheery flowers, a beautiful present and this delightful card.

I didn't take any photos but Nicky took this at the end of the lunch and speeches. From the left of the photo is Prof Beilin, Kevin, Nat, Cathy, myself, Julie and Jonathan.

Unfortunately this morning wasn't a good morning for our walk and swim. Julie, Mandy, Pauline and I sheltered under Clancy's restaurant until the rain stopped, but after only ten minutes it returned and it was so cold,  we decided to go home and stay warm.

A dull, grey sky in Perth today.....I heard the seed pods dropping on our tin roof so I raced out and took some photos of the galahs ....a blue sky and sunshine would have given me clearer photos but these do capture how gloomy the day was.

Cathy and Claire at book club this evening....always a cosy night with the fire, wine and good conversation. This month we read  "The Storied Life of A.J.Fikry" by Gabrielle Zevin, we all agreed it was a very enjoyable read.

Reading in the sun....

Our lemon tree is laden with fruit, luckily we love lemons.

Cookbooks are not something I buy very often but I absolutely love this one.

Perth skyline....I took these photos from the third floor of the State Library.   It will be interesting to look back on these photos in future years.

The same view from our window, but with the blue sky...

Inside the "Crown"...we had an exceptionally relaxing weekend.

Saturday, 11 June 2016

After a delicious breakfast at the Crown, Pete and I went for a long walk around the bridges...the Causeway and the Windan bridge. Only a small section of the Burswood golf course remains, these pelicans are enjoying the couple of lakes that are still there.

The new Swan River pedestrian bridge (still being built), which will allow people to walk across the river to the stadium.

The new football stadium , starting to look like a football stadium...next to the Crown.

Swans on the Swan River, with the cranes above the stadium in the distance...

A statue of Captain Willem de Vlamingh , Burswood Park heritage Trail.

Beautiful Perth city at sunset, our view from our room at the "Crown" (my arm reflected in the window on the left)..... A couple of months ago, Pete attended a corporate golf day at Araluen and was lucky enough to win the raffle, two nights at the "Crown" and $200 towards a meal at any of their restaurants. Yippee!

One of the lovely stained glass windows of Kirkman House, an original building of Royal Perth Hospital. I started  work before sunrise this morning and noticed the windows, I don't usually notice them later in the day as I walk past.

Tuesday, 7 June 2016

Our tasting plate this evening at Il Pasto restaurant ....Pam, Helen, Mandy and I had a fabulous meal and conversation.

Sunday, 5 June 2016

Jeremy's birthday dinner tonight....we always play games after dinner on his birthday, this year it was Balderdash. It's a fun game, we had lots of laughs and Tash was very excited that she had won.

Some photos that I took at Brighton Beach at sunset this evening.

Friday, 3 June 2016

Well, I had an interesting day today. I helped our Chinese student, Si, with her mice down at the Animal house. The last time I did animal work was thirty-five years ago.

The work today involved cutting their tail a little, then measuring their glucose level from the blood from the tail, one mouse every minute for two hours!

They are quite cute little things.

There are not many people around  this early in the morning, only the garbage truck.
