Morning greeting from this blue-winged kookaburra...we packed up and headed for Mimbi Caves along the Great Northern Highway.

One of the many small creeks we drove through....

The dirt road to the Mimbi Caves campground...

More amazing hills...black as...

Campground view east...black hills west

We thought Mimbi Caves would be a convenient overnight stopover between The Bungle Bungles and Broome...the Cave Tour that we went on was a bonus..

A delightful young indigenous fellow was our very knowledgable guide...the tour was started with the Smoking ceremony.

Above the caves...

The Caves are part of the 350 million year old Devonian Reef. The local indigenous people inhabited this unique network of caves that have been carved out of this ancient fossilised reef system over millions of years.

There is no electric lighting in the cave, we all had a torch.

Spectacular and delicate limestone formations .....

....and crystal clear freshwater pools...

Tea and damper after the tour...our guide also played his guitar and sang us a couple of songs. It really was a wonderful experience.

....evening walk, beautiful sky

....dinner...we managed to cook some reasonable meals with our little two burner.
