Streymoy Island

No rain this morning but there were so many waterfalls thanks to yesterday's rain...

This is the Fossa waterfall. It is the tallest waterfall in the Faroe Islands.

The church in Haldorsvik...a really pretty little village...

On the road approaching Tjornuvik...one of the oldest villages on the island...and it has a surf beach...

The village is surrounded by mountains....

Black sand...crystal clear water...mountains...waterfalls...

What a view the houses have in this village...it was just stunning.

Unbelievably cold !!!!

The two sea stacks just off the northern coast are called Risin and Kellingin which means the Giant and the Witch and relates to an old legend about their origins. They are in an earlier photo I took when we were on the other island...a week or so ago.

Saksun is a remote little village and famous for its unique location placed above a jaw-dropping lagoon. The lagoon used to form a good natural harbour but over the years storms have caused sand to block the area. At low tide you can walk along the shore from the lagoon to the beach front.

..tall mountains and so many glorious waterfalls...

We walked from the lagoon to the beach...

The lagoon...the people in the photo give you some idea of how high these mountains and waterfalls are.

Amazing walk with the mountains towering over us....

The beach...the ocean...

Walking back to the village from the beach....

Another great walk and happy day....
