Fjaerland
Our view this morning at breakfast....
The sitting room at the hotel....
Little antiques are on old pieces of furniture...
Beautiful clock...and many paintings of the surrounding mountains and fiords are on the walls..,
Fjaerland Fjordstove Hotel....it was built in1937 as a guesthouse...and has been renovated over the years...
Not a very sunny day today...a little rain and cloudy...
Pete and I went kayaking despite the weather and we were glad we did.
The sun came out for a while ....
I love it when the water is like glass...in the distance you can see the Jostedal Glacier, the largest glacier in mainland Europe.
The white building is our hotel.
It did rain a little ...
It was two hours of absolute joy...this place is amazing....
Fjaeland is a typical fjord village, but it has one thing that makes it a little different and that is that it is called the Norwegian book town. There are second hand books in nearly every public building. Pete and I were pleased that they had put all the English language books in separate shelves.
Every year they have a writer's festival and we were told that the town becomes very busy.
Yet another flower that I have never seen before.
There was a wedding today in the town's church...the bells were ringing.
