Sightseeing and shopping in Tromso
The day started with a blue sky...Pete and I started walking to the Arctic Cathedral...enjoying the old town buildings on the way.
We had to walk across a rather large bridge....with beautiful views of the city....and the mountains.
The Arctic Cathedral is at the end of the bridge that connects the island to the mainland side of the city.
The Arctic Cathedral is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Tromso Municipality in Norway. It is another wonderful example of Scandinavian architecture.
Inside the cathedral is as beautiful as the outside...the stained glass was not actually part of the architect's vision but was placed in the cathedral in 1972.
This stunning organ wasn't in the original building but build in 2005...
The Arctic Cathedral was well worth seeing...I loved it...
The dark clouds were a surprise when we came out of the church...
...it was a quick walk over the bridge (which at the moment is having work done to it and closed to vehicles).
....it poured not long after we had walked the bridge...we found a shop to escape the rain...
...then had a coffee and cake is this fabulous little cafe.
