A photo from Jeremy...his new puffer jacket...

A photo from Tash....Ethan at kindy...his kind teacher sends photos of the children to their parents.

Another photo from Tash....Will has always liked my colouring book so Pete and I found one online and posted it to him. Tash said he was really chuffed.

All the subway stations that we have seen are similar...so modern and spotless. The trains do not have a driver and are always exactly on time. We have really enjoyed travelling on them.

We caught the train to the Osterport station....in a rather different part of town...

The Statue of the Little Mermaid...Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale. The statue of the Little Mermaid was a gift from brewer Carl Jacobsen, unveiled in 1913.

Thought this building, on the other side of the harbour was amazing...consulted google...it is called Amager Slope or Copenhill, it is a combined heat and power waste-to-energy plant and recreational facility .

The Gefion Fountain which isn't far from the Statue of the Little Mermaid. It features a large-scale  group of oxen pulling a plow and being driven by the Norse goddess Gefion. The fountain was donated to the city by the Carlsberg Foundation on the occasion of the brewery's 50 year anniversary.

The beautiful building next to Frederik's Church, better known as the Marble Church.

It is known for its rococo architecture...and it is an Evangelical Lutheran church...opened in 1894.

Beautiful inside...

Amalienborg Palace....one of four identical buildings that make up the Palace...  it is home to King Frederik X,  Queen Mary and their children.

View from The Palace.

Coffee break...the danish coffee is delicious as are their pastries.

More interesting buildings...

...and we are back to Nyhavn, which I didn't recognise with all the people ....nice to see the canal in the sunshine.

This is a rather large department store...I think there were five floors...reminded me of David Jones in Perth. Pete and I really enjoyed browsing...but nothing really caught my eye.

The old buildings painted white are particularly attractive...

The Royal Library ....it is the national library of Denmark and the university library of the University of Copenhagen. It is among the largest libraries in the world and the largest in the Nordic countries. In 2017, it merged with the State and University Library in Aahus to form a combined national library.

the original building...such a stunning old building...

...the new Black Diamond building....

The view from inside....WOW

Pete and I had a laugh when we noticed these young teenage boys sitting near us....they must have been on a school excursion or similar...all on their phones...

A short walk away from the Black Diamond is the Danish Architecture Centre at Blox

We had a little something to eat and this was the view from the cafe in the Blox building ...you  could see the old library and new library addition (Black Diamond)...

Christianshavn....where we caught the train home. Another wonderful day is this beautiful city.

Sunday 9 June

Ours is the door on the right...

Off to see this gorgeous city...backpack with water and raincoats...it is a quiet Sunday morning..

Crossing the bridge over one of the lakes that surround Copenhagen.

Amazing buildings...

There is so much to see...roses seem to be very popular...and notice the foot path, they are all like this.

Our first destination was Norhavn...it means North Harbour...

It is so pretty....and colourful...

It is a strange day weather wise...one minute we have blue skies and the next black clouds...and a rather chilly breeze..

Holmen Church

Christiansborg Palace...is a former royal palace and now contains the Danish Parliament and the Supreme Court.

There are so many canals and bridges...and more than a few pigeons around and they are all fat!

As you turn every corner there is yet another stunning scene you want to photograph.

Stroget Street...a shopping area. It was so quiet when Pete and I went into a cafe for our first danish coffee ( it was superb) and muffin, when we came out onto the street again it was crowded.

This is inside the Copenhagen Cathedral...Church of Our Lady...the site has housed a church since 1209. Such an unusual church but very beautiful.

Hans Christian Anderson ....his statue in the King's Garden...

A children's playground in the King's Garden....the kids' playgrounds that we have seen so far in Copenhagen have been exceptional.

Rosenborg Castle....it has been home to a museum since 1833, housing the Danish Crown Jewels and the many gifts the royal family received up to 1696.

The bridge that crosses the moat...

This was an impressive building...The Royal Library, they call the Black Diamond. It is an historic library with an enormous modern extension. We are going to visit it tomorrow.

Hans Christian Anderson's grave. We were on one of the self guided walking tours and this was one of the features. The cemetery itself was extraordinary...more like a botanical garden.

So many plants I have never seen before...

Spot the climber....another attraction on our walk.

And a library...very different...quite lovely...the children's section was fabulous.
