Emma Gorge

The walk in....

Another beautiful blue sky...

A stunning waterfall at the end of an equally stunning walk.

The water was freezing ...but still enjoyed floating on my back staring at the falls

On the other side of the waterhole there was a small thermal spring....

Like sitting in a warm bath....look at the colours of the rocks!

A shot I took from the water....the colours were spectacular.

Stopped and admired this turquoise pool on our walk out of the gorge.

I think this is a Merten's Monitor

I couldn't not stop and take a photo of this superb reflection.

Close to the gorge itself is Emma Gorge Resort, on the El Questro Station. Pete and I hoovered down a cappuccino and a muffin.

In the afternoon we went to check out where the road to El Questro crosses the Pentecost River. Since we had crossed it last night in the dark we wanted to see what it looked like in daylight.

We also visited Jackaroo's Waterhole...

The meandering Pentecost River viewed from Pigeon Hole Lookout...

Another splendid day in the Kimberley.

Last night we arrived at the Manning Camp Ground...I never tire of seeing these extraordinary Boab trees...

Manning Gorge

This sandy beach, a few minutes walk from the campground was the starting point of the Manning Gorge trek . We had to swim across the river pushing a plastic tub carrying our boots, phones and cameras. Such a glorious morning I really found it hard to get out of the water.

An amazing walk ...gradually going higher....and surprisingly quite a few wildflowers...

... steep descent ....

Striking white sand below by the water...

Our favourite gorge so far...so very pretty...

Magnificent falls...the black rock glistened in the sunshine...you can just see some people on the rocks next to the water falls.

There were quite a few places where you could swim, all with outstanding views of the gorge.

We could have spent all day there but it was getting warm and we had a long walk back to the camp ground. We were also keen to get on the road to El
Questro which was a fair distance.

Another swim of the river...

...on the Gibb again...destination, El Questro Station

Quite a few friends had recommended a stop at Ellenbrae Station which is renowned for serving delicious tea and scones. We were not disappointed.

There is still a lot of water around...we have crossed over so many creek beds. We were running a bit later than we had planned and ended up crossing the Pentecost River and arriving at El Questro in the dark. Luckily Pete is an excellent driver.

Breakfast outside...who wouldn't in this lovely weather and gorgeous outlook.

Bell Gorge

An early start on our walk to Bell Gorge...

A beautiful walk into the gorge...

The cliffs getting higher.....

The water just before the falls...we are standing on one side of the falls (and gorge).

The top of the falls...

Looking down at the pool below

....and the view from  the other side of the river...

After climbing down....a swim...

The water was cold but the air was warm. Pete and I both swam over to the falls...our morning shower.

...the rocks were warm too...

On our way back to the other side of the river we ventured up the river a little way...so pretty.

What a stunning place and such perfect weather to enjoy it.

Adcock Gorge

We drove a short way to this next gorge...we got wet feet before we arrived at the gorge.

...a pandanus...

Such beauty on our walk...

I try and take photos of Pete to give some indication of the size of the rocks...

We were the only ones there....

Another shower....

Hanging garden above...

...Submerged rocks...

More cattle...on our way to the next gorge...

Galvans Gorge

Again, another enjoyable walk through the gorge to the pool at the end.

I'm loving all the reflections...

It is only a small gorge but so pretty. The sun was setting so not the best light for photos.

So still and quiet...except for the sound of the falls.

What a day...
