Listening to "Adele", who is playing at the Domain Stadium tonight. As it is a warm and still night we could hear her quite well. Tash is holding Rusty's ball. He enjoyed a play in the front yard for a change.

Curtin University...O week

Wednesday, 22 February 2017

Back to work today and the campus looked so different. After weeks of holidays and the campus being so quiet, today was O Day and it was buzzing. Great to see.

What an exciting day ...we played at Royal Adelaide Golf Course. The trains didn't run through the course during the tournament but they did today. (Notice the little screens in the carts.)

Pete and I played with a lovely couple from the Grange Golf club.

The 18th hole...it all looked so different without all the people!

Jane and I with our winnings ( there weren't many ladies playing.) Following the game we had a fabulous lunch, a day to remember.

Although at times it was a rainy and overcast day, Pete and I still managed to do a lot of walking and sightseeing in the heart of Adelaide city. Above is a beautiful old building, St Barnabas College belonging to the Anglican Diocese.

St Peter's Cathedral

One of several old buildings of the Adelaide Women's and Children's Hospital

Pete standing on the River Torrens Footbridge

Adelaide Oval ( we snuck in whilst they were dismantling the Guns and Roses concert stage)

University of Adelaide Medical and Nursing building...quite exciting looking , I thought.

The Mitchell Building, University of Adelaide

We stumbled across this Fringe Event in the State Library and were able to watch a virtual reality movie...amazing!

I just loved this place....part of the State Library of Adelaide

This was one of the many delightful exhibits at the Jam Factory. It was made using steel and cuisenaire rods. Pete and I both used the rods in our early years in primary school in NSW and QLD.

Barb, me and Jane ready for another 18 holes of golf at Glenelg Golf Club.

Followed by a little sightseeing at Glenelg Beach and then lunch.

One of the highlights of this short holiday will be catching up with dear friends Jan and George in their home over a delicious dinner that Jan cooked and drinking wine that George made. I was so disappointed that I had forgotten to take a photo ( we never stopped talking all night). I decided to post this old photo of Jan that I took when we used to work together nearly 40 years ago.

The first day at the Women's Australian Open at Royal Adelaide Golf Club. Pete and I followed this group with Lydia, Hana and Brooke for quite a few holes. Hana went on to win the event.

Brooke, Hana and Lydia ....

Brooke on the tee, this shows a little more of the course.

Karrie Webb...

We were lucky with the weather...

In the late afternoon we went and played nine holes at Kooyonga Golf Course, where the Open will be held next year.

Isn't it stunning! Such a terrific course to play.

Putting on the last green, the greens were like carpet.

Jane, Barb and I spent the morning wandering up and down Rundle Mall , shopping and sightseeing.

Waiting at the tram stop....

...on the tram...

In the afternoon we played nine holes at Glenelg Golf Course and then ate dinner in their clubhouse. The course was fantastic!

The three wise men...Pete, Les and Chas...

This afternoon we arrived in Adelaide for the Australian Ladies Golf. We are staying with our friends, Jane, Les, Barb and Charlie in apartments in Unley. I'm already loving the beautiful bluestone  buildings. Above is Les, Chas and Pete walking home from the bottle shop.

Unley Road

We have cooked chicken and beer, happy men.
