TOKYO
Baseball is a very popular sport in Japan....these little fellows were so excited on the subway escalator this morning... made me smile...
If the subway travellers aren't on their phones, they are asleep...
Today when we came out of the Shinjuku Station these two sweet high school students asked if they could interview me....as part of a school project. It was fun talking to them...
Shinjuku is described as a buzzing district that epitomises modern Tokyo. It is also an area that has many new skyscrapers ....and gorgeous street trees...
This photo is of the Metropolitan Government Offices, a 48 floor building that was built in 1991. There is an observation deck on the 45th floor so we thought we'd have a look.
What a view! It is was unbelievable, I have never seen such a big city....
You could just see Mt Fuji in the distance, partly behind clouds.
I took so many photos, there were so many interesting sights...
Better view of Mt Fuji....
The soccer field looked so small...
There were window looking out in every direction....there were also performers playing the piano...and of course there was a coffee shop and souvenir shop...
Some of the musicians were children...and they played well. The piano looked familiar so I asked google where it came from. It is called an "Ovoid Piano" (Piano of Memories), which was designed by the artist Yayoi Kusama. Pete and I had been to her exhibition in Melbourne last year. Visitors can play the piano for free for up to 5 minutes at a time without a reservation. The piano is a donated instrument that was given a unique makeover by Kusama and it serves as a way for visitors from all over the world to connect through music.
The park in this photo is Yoyogi Park ....
Rain....
Other interesting buildings...
This one is quite eye catching...it is called the Mode Gakuen Cocoon Tower and is a 50 story educational facility ....
And we found a fabulous coffee shop on the first floor...
After a refreshing break over a cup of coffee, Pete and I jumped on a train to the Imperial Palace...
