Starting our walk and climb to Rawnsley Bluff.  The track climbs the Wilpena Pound escarpment, providing views into the Pound from the Wilpena Pound Lookout.

In this area most of the creek beds are dry....just love that tree,

So many wildflowers that I have never seen before...this one was very pretty.

It was an easy start...

....then the path became more difficult...rocks, rocks and more rocks.

But spectacular views as we climbed higher...most of the vegetation was not very tall...

....never boring...

Big night out! Pete and I went to the Woolshed Restaurant for dinner....absolutely delicious and beautiful view of the Bluff....A big thank you to Jeremy's friend Lauren for recommending both the walk and the restaurant. Another wonderful day.

 

Pete and I have a pretty good routine in the morning...Pete makes us a cup of tea which we drink in bed... then we pull the bed apart and put in the table. I have first shower and Pete fills our water bottles for our walks and the electric kettle. Pete has his shower and I drag all our essentials for breakfast out of the cupboards. We then enjoy breakfast together and decide what we will do that day.

Quorn has many beautiful old buildings but this one caught my eye...once a bank and now someone has lovingly restored it.

Not far from Quorn is the Dutchman's Stern Conservation  Park. Pete and I decided to climb the Dutchman's Stern...pictured above. It is a 10.6 km circuit walk and the summit is at 820m. The Park gets its name from the bluff's similarity to Dutch sailing ships of the eighteenth century. The rocky outcrops and slopes appear to resemble the reverse stern of these ships.. The bluff was named by Captain Flinders in 1802.

A great walk, especially on such a bright and sunny day.

On the road again....to Rawnsley Park station ...green everywhere.

The view from the caravan park is breath taking. These mountains in one direction....

And Rawnsley Bluff in the other.... we hope to climb this one.

 

This morning we back tracked a little to see Alligator Gorge in Mount Remarkable National Park. Blue sky, bright orange rocks and the beautiful silver gum trees....stunning.

About half of the 8.2km walk was along side this charming little creek.

I took dozens of photos...there was beauty everywhere you looked.

The track went from one side of the creek to the other ....about 40 times , Pete and I thought...it wasn't always easy to use the rocks as stepping stones to cross.

Walking along the top of the gorge there were wildflowers galore.

On our way back to Quorn we stopped for lunch...this was our view.

Nice to have a stroll in the town before dinner.

Our first meal out since leaving Melbourne and it was fantastic...at the Transcontinental.

Beautiful old pub...a real pleasure.

And after dinner we walked down the road to watch the Quorn Silo Light show.

It was all about the local history...it is on every night and is free...what a great idea someone had.
