North of Brisbane

Caloundra...a ship in the distance behind the sand bank...another blue sky and clear day ..

Such a beautiful place...

Moffat Beach...another beautiful beach...some little rocks on the sand to look at but no shells which I thought interesting.

Fish and chips for lunch... delicious.....good company..and nice to sit in the sunshine...

We had to wait a while for our order .....I noticed this sign on the way out!

Mooloolaba Beach...our final stop ...then headed back to Nirimba. Kevin and Michelle kindly drove to the airport in the afternoon...then a safe flight home.

North of Brisbane

Yesterday afternoon Trish drove me north to Michelle and Kevin's home. Trish lives in Caloundra, not very far away. Above is Michelle and Kevin's lovely new home in Halcyon Nirimba...which is inland from Caloundra.

We were on our way to lunch...stopped here at Balmoral Ridge to look at the view...the ocean in the distance..solucky to have such clear day...

Enjoyed a delicious lunch at Gypsy's Table in Maleny...delicious food and the best nonalcoholic red wine I have tasted.

...then a coffee at the Poet's Cafe in Montville...

...and a walk around Montville...there are many shops to pop in and browse....

Brisbane

This morning Trish had the good idea to catch the free ferry up the river and have a coffee somewhere...the ferry stops right outside our apartments.

Another day with blue sky but the breeze was pretty cold...

Trish and I had our coffee and cake here...lovely view of the bridge and city.

A better view...

Lunch at The Lawn ...before we said goodbye...it has been a wonderful few days...I felt really thankful that I have such kind and generous friends...

Brisbane

Sunrise from our apartment....Trish and I were invited to join Donna at a Park Run...

Driving over the Story Bridge on our way to the Park Run...

Neither Trish nor I had ever participated in a Park Run...Donna is recovering from a hip replacement so we three walked the five kilometres. The route took us along the river which I enjoyed.

After we had finished the walk Trish, Donna and I had coffee and toast at a nearby cafe overlooking the river. Unusual birds!!

Our school reunion which was to celebrate 50 years since our graduation from High School  was held in the Story Bridge Hotel...

It was a fabulous venue....we hired a large room with it's own bar and people could move around to chat and also buy their own drinks and food. We were all so thrilled to meet each other after many years....there were lots of  stories and plenty of laughter.

Canice and Trish were my best friends at St Rita's.

Donna, Nanette, Christine and I were all in the same Grade 1 class at St Cecilia's Primary School ....and then we all went to St Rita's.

My Grade 1 Photo....Christine is in the middle row 4th from the left....Nanette is in the front row first from the left and I am next to her. Donna is also in the first row second from the right.

That evening the girls surprised me with a birthday cake ...

What a marvellous day it was...

Brisbane

I am now in Brisbane, staying in a lovely apartment in Dockside with this view of the Brisbane River ....

I'm sharing the apartment with Trish (above) and Christine...

After unpacking Trish and I went for a walk along the river....

Their famous Story Bridge...

Higher buildings than I remembered in the city...

Our view at night...the boat with the coloured lights is a party boat.

My old school chums that are staying at Dockside...from the left is Jo, Christine, Sue, Trish, Christine K  and Trish K.  Lynne is also staying with us but wasn't present when I took this photo. We played this crazy game for a few hours before bedtime.

Celebrating my birthday a little early...boys are keen to give me their cards that they made...

Reading Ethan's card....he is such a good drawer...

Will likes to make small cards...and they are so carefully made...

Flynn was very proud of his card..it had lots of little sparkles and stickers...Will is waiting for the icecream cake (he LOVES icecream like I do).

Yummy icecream cake....I think it  might become a tradition on Nanna's birthday

I was so happy that Tash and Todd were able to squeeze in a visit to Perth before I left for Brisbane...

Teaching Will how to French knit....he was keen to learn as his class at school had learnt finger knitting. I'm so proud that Will tries his best at everything....
