DAY TRIP TO MOUNT FUJI 

Standing at the bus stop under a lovely blue sky....we were so happy that it wasn't overcast....

Shibuya Station....crowded trains....we caught one to Shinjuku Station...

Then we caught a very comfortable bus to Kawaguhi-ko where we would see Mt Fugi...

The bus ride was really interesting, travelling through the suburbs of Tokyo. There were so many apartment buildings along the Expressway.

These huge netted areas are all over Japan....we saw them everywhere we went...they are nets for golf driving ranges and for baseball fields.

The journey up in the mountains was wonderful too, seeing all the colours in the forests on the hill sides.

After the two-hour bus ride we arrived in Kawaguchi-ko .....Pete and I headed to Lake Kawaguchi ... the colours of the trees and bushes were stunning, we were so thrilled.

We followed the walking track that wound its way around the lake, surrounded by breathtaking views in every direction.

Stopped for a coffee and a rest...our view...

On our way back to Tokyo...what a fabulous day...

It was dark by the time we reached Tokyo...the sun set at 4.45pm...

What an exciting day...what an exciting city!

 

TOKYO

Standing at our bus stop ....it is a cloudy morning...

Shibuya....to do some shopping...

The busy intersection again....

One of the Tokyo experiences is riding a go-cart around the streets of Shibuya...not for me...

Isn't this amazing?!....a large Adidas advertisement featuring a figure in a Japan national football team jersey....

These machines are everywhere in Japan. They are called gachapon machines or capsule toy machines which are very popular. They are coin operated vending machines that dispense small toys or collectibles in a plastic capsule.

A new part of Shibuya Station ....and a very new train...

We were on our way to Ueno Park...

It is one of Tokyo's most beautiful green spaces...

The cherry blossom trees have all been pruned....

It is also the home of the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum....

....and the Tosho-gu Shrine which was built in 1627....

There is also a large lake which they call Shinobazu Pond and it is full of these plants....Lotus plants, which is a culturally significant aquatic plant in Asia.

A busy shopping district next to the park....

These are the latest fashion in Japan, many young women are wearing them....

Another newish station at Ginza...Ginza is a very sophisticated neighbourhood, it has a more cosmopolitan feel than many other parts of Tokyo. It is home to some of the most posh boutiques, shopping complexes and restaurants.

Isetan Department Store....

The Wako Department Store...has been there since 1940.

An amazing area, Pete and I noticed how well dressed the locals were ....

The 12 floor UNIGLO building...where we did a little shopping...they had a much bigger range of clothes than the Perth stores.

The Meguro River...and high up on the left hand side of the river is the Meguro Sky Garden which is just up the road from our apartment...

The expressway is next to the garden...

The gardens surround this soccer field...
