Pete and I left Melbourne this morning for four nights down in Apollo Bay. On the way we stopped at Werribee Mansion...

The mansion was completed in 1877 for the Chirnside family who made their fortune from wool across the Western District of Victoria.

The gardens and parkland surrounding the mansion are owned by the State Government...

The number and size of the trees in the park was enormous ....

Pete walking under one of the many oak trees...

....and there were hundreds of flying foxes in several of the  trees making a rather loud screeching noise.

The rose garden which contains over 5000 bushes....unbelievable...

The well known Torquay beach....

Jan Juc beach

The even more famous Bells Beach.

...the beginning of the Great Ocean Road.

The view from our window in our chalet at Apollo Bay...

The view from our table at Chris' Beacon Point Restaurant at Apollo Bay....we ate early so we could make the most of the view.

My main course....King fish....delicious ....as was everything else. It was a lovely night and we thank Tash, Todd and Jeremy for the voucher for our anniversary, such a thoughtful gift.

Our 40th Wedding Anniversary

Pete and I started the day by taking Monty for a long walk to the beach...

Not many people around Altona Beach as it was a cool and windy morning...

So much has happened since that happy day...

Afternoon drinks at Peachy Keens....had a few laughs...

....making the most of our time with Chris and Michelle...

Serious men's business....

Michelle and Chris made sushi for dinner....one of my favourites...

It tasted as good as it looks....

Waiting on a train at Flinders Street station

I love the many oak trees in Melbourne. Picked this acorn up on a walk to Lygon Street where we enjoyed a delicious lunch with Brad and Halina.

Pete among the black sheoaks on our walk this morning....walk in the Arthur's Seat State Park. Apparently there are male and female black  sheoaks!

The walk is to King Falls....sadly not much of a waterfall at this time of year, but the surrounding bush was beautiful.

A brief stop in Flinders....pretty little town with a history of fishing...

Mushroom Reef Marine Park

Beautiful Pt Leo surf beach....

....perfect for a swim...

Dromana Beach....warm afternoon...cool water

The road to our home in the bush...
